Check-in will be open Tuesday, June 9, from 12:00–4:00 pm, and Wednesday, June 10, from 10:00 am–1:00 pm.
All Awards Week events are free to attend. Events that require advanced registration or are recommended for a certain audience will be noted as such, otherwise, most events are open to all guests, and you may simply show up!

Community-Word Project is an NYC-based organization that facilitates culturally responsive, multidisciplinary art programs for students, teaching artists, and communities to develop and amplify their voices and creative skills.

Creative Careers: An Alumni Panel Discussion

Gold Medal Open Mic

Come cheer on your peers! Gold Medal writers are invited to take to the stage and read excerpts of their award-winning work. If you’d like to read, you must complete the Interest Form by April 10—we'll let you know by the end of May whether your work has been selected. Presented in collaboration with Writopia Lab.

Writopia Lab is a nonprofit organization founded in NYC that runs in person and online creative writing workshops, university-based residencies, and a literary arts camp in the Berkshires. Their warm and rigorous approach is rooted in the belief that celebrating and sharing stories contributes to the building of stronger, more literate societies.
Mocktail Mixer

End your day hanging out with fellow Scholastic Award winners—grab a Scholastic Awards signature mocktail, load up on snacks, and rock out to tunes on the dance floor.
A note for parents: This is designed to be a teen-focused event, though we encourage you to make a plan that works for your family—whether that’s dropping off your teen, or joining them on the dance floor. There will also be an adjacent (quieter!) sitting area for parents who want to hangout and connect with each other.

A special thank you from the Alliance to our wonderful partners and educators! Join us for a light breakfast and an opportunity to connect with colleagues. As a special treat, we’ll hear from artist John "CRASH" Matos on the importance of nurturing creative young people. Attendees will receive a free book signed by the artist.

John "CRASH" Matos is a renowned graffiti artist born and raised in the Bronx, New York. He curated the groundbreaking "Graffiti Art Success for America" at Fashion MODA, launching the graffiti movement that remains active to this day. CRASH has been part of numerous museum and gallery shows around the world focusing on graffiti and street art, and has works in many permanent museum collections. He continues to work and show both locally and internationally. He is the co-owner of the contemporary art gallery WALLWORKS NEW YORK and the co-owner of Wallworks TWO, a locally driven retail boutique, both located in the Bronx.
